RECENT APARTMENT REVIEWS IN STATE OF ILLINOIS

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS
Skyline at Evanston
"This is a great community to live in. There is a nice sized parking garage, the
high rise style apartments are beautiful, and the views it gives you are
amazing.
The leasing staff is top notch and the community is very nice. There are many
places to shop in the surrounding areas as well. The pricing is affordable and
the residents that live there are also very friendly.
If you are looking for new residence in the Evanston area, Skyline at Evanston
is the perfect choice for you!!

Phillips Apartments
"This is an old school building that was turned into apartments in the 60's. The
building has a locked front entrance, but there is little privacy and the
building is noisy. The landlord's family resides in one of the apartments and
they are quick to complain of anything they do not like to the landlord. The
carpet and fixtures are old and rundown. The town blows the tornado siren
everyday at noon and nine. The small town, of 700 people, is a nice place to
live, but this apartment building and its owner are not.

WHEATON, ILLINOIS
The Amli Apartments
"In 2007 after graduating college, my girlfriend and I moved to the Amli
apartments at Danada Square in Wheaton, Illinois. We were immediately
unimpressed with the type of service we were to receive from the Amli staff.
Throughout the 11 months that we have lived here, we have received numerous
letters informing us that our dog mess has not been cleaned up outside. It seems
as if Amli's response to a turd found by their staff is to send out a
threatening letter to all of the residents in the nearby building that own dogs
saying that they will be charged $50 for each pile of crap.
At another point in the lease, we made a request to clear a clog in the shower
drain. I came home from work to find a letter saying that they had replaced the
shower head which was working fine. The drain on the other hand was still
clogged and remained so until I bought some drain-o. Amli also ignored for
several months a burnt-out street lamp that created a safety issue for the
tenants. Even after they sent out a letter explaining that several vehicles in
the area had been broken into, they neglected the need to have adequate lighting
in the parking lots.
In the eighth month of the lease, we received a letter claiming that we still
owed $100 towards our deposit. Apparently Amli had put that money towards our
rent instead of the deposit and expected us to take care of the difference 8
months later.
The straw that broke the camel's back was when we were getting ready to move
out. Roughly a month and a half prior to the end of our lease, I contacted Amli
to find out what our pro-rated month of rent would be. They told me that because
I did not give a written notice at least 60 days in advance, I would have to pay
rent for 60 days from that date. This meant that not only would I have to pay
for 2 weeks of rent in which I would not be living in the apartment but the rate
would be about $300 more than what the original lease was at.
I would never live at Amli apartments again and would strongly encourage others
to find an apartment complex that respects its tenants and knows how to do
business."(2009)
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
The Chicagoan
"This is a great building with fantastic amenities. We loved living here except
for one person in the management office - the main property manager named Bonnie
Wu. She is probably the most unaccomodating apartment manager I have ever met. I
think the management could do a lot more to retain existing residents. If you
ever want to negotiate anything with Ms. Wu, good luck! Ain't happening! For a
management that has so many buildings around Chicago, you'd think that customer
service would be their top priority...completely not true when you have people
like Ms. Wu managing the Chicagoan!"

MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
Forest Cove Apartment
"Huge Mistake if you move in Forest Cove -Mount Prospect, IL. Please Read my
entire story prior making a decision to move here.
I read some of the earlier posts and decided to move in here. I was shown a
model display of 1 and 2 BDR Apts. Upon my further interest to rent an
apartments (as some good reviews were in back of my mind) The office staff told
me that the only apartments that were available were the ones facing Busse Road.
In summer of year 2006 is when I moved into one of the bldgs facing Busse Road.
Upon my moving into the apartments all my excitement died out the same day and
I was sadden and deeply shocked to learn that, per the leasing office staff
statement the 6 years old Carpets (where dogs and Cats are allowed) was not
replaced and cleaned.
My Rent was $850 plus extra $85 as tax. Further as my move in proceeded I
started to open up blinds to look outside the window. Where I got another shock.
The Bedroom window was broken and if attempted to open could fall off. The next
day of my move in I began to call the leasing office and spoke directly with the
manager (there are Benetta and Joan former manager) . After giving me months of
fake promises I was very bluntly told NO! The cracked and windows will not be
replaced. The manager said on several occasions that there were a total of 9
apartments she needed to fix but does not have a window supplier and hence the
window will never be fixed!!!!
Then came the winter of 2006. It was soo cold inside . Always 50 degrees.
Because of draft coming from the patio door and broken windows. I would keep up
the heat to 90 degrees such that the temp in the apartment would be 65 degrees.
I called many times to the leasing office to get the heat fixed . But every
single time it was a horrible failure. The Maintenance man can't figure out how
to fix the heat so he came with a scotch tape and permanently taped up all the
edges of the broken window and patio door. That brutal winter went by in this
struggle. Its 2009 now and I still have problem with my heat and drafts coming
from patio door and broken window. And by the way the patio and the window are
permanently sealed to never be opened again
Other problems that everyone will experience if they move in Forest Cove
apartments.
1) No Salt or snow removal id done during winter
2) The front apartment door - Main door and also the sub floor apartment door
closes very loudly. To imagine how loud it can be is a wall hanging can fall off
when the floor exit door closes.
3) Busse Road is not a normal quite neighborhood road but rather it is the one
that connects to I-90 interstate. It is extremely noisy with added noise of
hawnking of the Cars and Trucks.
4) Randomly Cars have broken into for stealing.
5) There is also for some reason which I do not know why but cops are here a
lot. Some times its like 5 to 6 cars with their signals turned on and it very
scary to see all this and still pay $850 per month for 1 BDR apartment.
Please look for a place somewhere else where your money is fully worth your
spending it.
